I first want to thank Bill who sent me this information. I know he has
spent alot of time to help this ole gal out. THANK YOU BILL! I truely
appreciate you.

I will type this exactly as he sent it to me. This is the first
installment- National Archives Photographic Services will be sent in next
message. It is more specific on WWII data.

This may not be what all of you are looking for, but it will get you
additional pictures. Especially if you know what units your people belonged
to:

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE STILL PICTURE PHOTOGRAPHIC SERVICES

The Department of Defense (DoD) Still Media Records Center maintains the
official still photographic collections of the Armed Forces. It has Navy
photography from 1958, Marine Corps and Army from 1955, and Air Force from
1954. Earlier Air Force Photographs are held by the National Air and Space
Museum. The other three Armed Services' older photographs are in the
National Archives.

HOW TO OBTAIN DoD PHOTOGRAPHIC RESEARCH SERVICES:

The DoD Still Media Records Center can provide LIMITED RESEARCH SERVICES in
response to written requests. These must be as specific as possible
concerning subject identity,date,place and other details. The quantity,
size and format of the reproduction wanted must also be specified. There
is a $5.oo USER FEE charged for unofficial request,which covers the first
15 minutes of research time. If additional research time is needed, you
will receive, by return mail, a cost estimate for the necessary work.
Advanced payment will be required in such cases. If you wish to undertake
research in person, you can do so at the DoD Still Media Records Center
Facility in Building 168, Anacostia Naval Station, in Southwest Washington,
D.C. It is open for researchfrom 9:am to 3pm on Weekdays, excluding Federal
Holidays. APPOINTMENT ARE REQUIRED, AND MUST BE MADE AT LEAST THREE DAYS
IN ADVANCE. For appointments, call, 202-433-2166, or Autovon 288-2166. A
$5.00 minimum USER FEE must be paid, in the form of a check or money order,
by all persons doing unofficial research at the DoD Still Media Records
Center.

HOW TO OBTAIN DoD PHOTOGRAPHIC REPRODUCTION SERVICES

Sale of DoD photography is conducted in accordance with Department of
Defense Instructions and payment must be made in advance. YOU MUST WRITE
FOR A FIRM PUICE QUOTATION AND SPECIFIC ORDERING INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO
SENDING ANY PAYMENT.

You will receive this information by return mail,and must respond promptly
with a paid order to ensure delivery. A $5.ll USER FEE is charged for this
information.

IF YOU WISH TO ORDER SPECIFIC PHOTOGRAPHS, give their negative numbers and
subjects when writing fro prices and ordering instructions, adn specify the
quantity, size, and format of the reproductions wanted.

SINSE SOME PHOTOGRAPHS MAY NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE, OR MAY NOT BE
REPRODUCIBLE IN THE SIZE REQUESTED, you should clearly state whether
substitute images and other reproduction sizes will be acceptable. TYPICAL
REPRODUCTION SIZES AND FORMATS INCLUDE: Black and White and Color Prints on
5"x7", 8"x10", 11"x14", And 16"x20". NEGATIVES IN 4"x5". COLOR
TRANSPARENCIES in 35mm and 4"x5".
