I have a mystery which will never be solved for sure, but I'd like to
hear everyone's ideas on the subject.
I recently located that an ancestor, Catherine KRUS, was buried at Holy
Sepculchre Cemetery, Rochester, NY. To those that aren't familar with
this cemetery it is a well run, highly organized, large Catholic
cemetery. Their computer indicates that Catherine was buried in 1880 in
a single grave in a very lovely section of the cemetery. But in 1912,
her remains were moved to another single grave in a different section of
the cemetery. That was 32 years later.
I can find no relative in the new section, and she was not buried with
her husband. These were two suggestions which the lady at the office
says sometimes happens. She also said moving remains is a very costly
affair. Also, that sometimes the remaining spouse or family will like a
different plot that has a tree or something. But this was 32 years
later and the old plot was in a section of great mature beauty. Also,
the old section still has some plots available.
Any ideas??
:)
