Joan asked about the recent publication of a history of the early settlers in
the Town of Eaton compiled by the Morrisville Clerk. I know of no such
publication, and I try to keep my finger on the historical pulse of the area.
Sounds like you ran across a copy of William Tuttle's _Names and Sketches of
the Pioneer Settlers of Madison County, New York_, copyright 1984. We have a
copy here at the college library - if anyone needs a look-up, please let me
know.
Joan - if I can help you with local historical societies, please contact me
off-list.

While in the Salt Lake City, I came across a book "Pioneer Sketches of
Madison County, NY". There was information re. my ancestor, Francis Peter
Byer, a German Hessian who fought under Gen. Johnny Burgoyne. According to a
newspaper obituary, he married Sarah (?) who died 27 Jan. 1846, age 100 years.
As their son, Nicholas Byer, a War of 1812 veteran had come to Eaton before
1805 with his Hessian father, I mailed my Byer information to the City Clerk
in Morrisville who was in the process of compiling a history of early Eaton
area settlers.
I have never heard from the Morrisville Clerk and wonder if such a
publication was ever put out. This was a little over a year ago. Anyone know
of such a publication? Joan (j-bakeman@msn.com)
