If you are not, you might consider it! they publish a list each day of
two thousand obituaries world-wide, and are always looking for people
to handle a newspaper in their area.
For people looking for obituaries, gen-obit seems like the logical place
to look. It is also archived and searchable.

This will bring you the FAQ with more options. As I understand it,
anyone can lurk, but only submitters can ask another submitter for a copy
of the obituary. But the newspaper, city and date is listed.
Daily digest mode runs 150-225 Kb, so it won't work if you can't get
large messages. I find lots of interesting deaths in these listings, and
just search it for a few names I am researching.
