Brenda has a great idea for those of you who want to post to any of the
genealogy groups on Usenet. This is where the 'harvest' programs do their
dirty work and the idiot human who wants to send you junk mail (UCE) hasn't
the brains to remove the spam blockers we might put in our posting
software.

I use YA Newsreader (Mac) and had no trouble at all fixing it so it would
show my address as:

kathie@no.spam.here.com

I do put the following at the bottom of each post knowing that the spam
artists won't do any weeding or cleaning:

knewkirk at pacifier dot com
(IQ test for harvest bots)

Any human with more than two brain cells has only to read that to know that
my email address is:

knewkirk@pacifier.com

I have received spam and noted that the sender had left in addresses like:

bounce@that.spam

Once you are on the mailing list it's impossible to get off as these lists
are sold and resold. Requests to have your name removed just lets the jerk
know the address is good. Threats to the service provider have done more
for me than all the good manners in the world. I will sue for theft of
service.
