Adding my two cents:
There's also a Shaker museum in Watervliet,NY-outside Albany. Haven't been
there yet, but it's on my list. Have stopped in at New Lebanon: small
museum, in the process of rehabbing the Family dwellings. An interesting
contrast to Canterbury,NH, just across the border. The Watervliet museum
seems to promote itself as a very complete archive. Sorry, the brochure is
at home!

here's New Lebanon:
Mount Lebanon Shaker Village - Route 20 - New Lebanon, 12125 -
Columbia County - (518)794-9500 -

here's what I was thinking of: *most likely repository of records*
Shaker Museum & Library - 88 Shaker Museum Road (off County Route 13) - Old
Chatham, 12136 - Columbia County - (518)794-9100 - FAX# (518)794-8621

one more reference:
Shaker Heritage Society - 1848 Shaker Meeting House - Albany-Shaker Road -
Albany, 12211
- Albany County - (518)456-7890 -

ps.Shakers used communal graveyards;didn't believe in individual headstones!

pps. Hello "cousin" David!
