French Churches NYC circa 1818

I am looking for the baptismal record of my ancestor, John Baptist
Gainer/Jean Baptiste Gagne in French who was born 3 Mar 1818 in NYC to Jean
Baptiste Gainer and his Philadelphia, PA born wife, Elisabeth Smith.

There is a "French Church" listed in "1866 Guide to New York City" called
the Eglise du St. Esprit would that have been in existence in 1818. If so
does anyone know if the records are available somewhere???

Any help is most appreciated.
