I personally think it a great idea!!!!! So many of our ancestors used the
mother's maiden name for their Grandson or firstborn son's middle
name....giving us
clues. (Actually, I'm still looking for my g.grandfather's g parents.
His
name was Joseph Gates Adams, b. Moscow, (now Leicester) Livingston Co. NY.
His dad was Cyrus B. Adams, b. 1800 Whitestown, Mont. Co.; and his mom was
Lydia Lockwood d. of Joseph Lockwood (Rev. War Vet b. 29 July 1756 at
Smithfield RI) and his wife Lydia Whitman. Married Jan 11, 1781 in
Springfield, Windsor Co. VT.
Since my maiden name is Adams, I am searching through the Gates geneo's
and the Adams geneo's to find a possible link to anywhere. These are the
only clues that I have. Yea for middle names!!!!!!!!!!! Boo for common
names like Adams - next time I am born, I shall try for a less common
name.
Any help on the Adams/Gates?????? would be greatly appreciated.
