Ray: My grandfather was from Elmira and he was in a soldiers home,
equivalent of VA Hospital, in Bath, NY where he died of complications>of WWI
war injuries in 1933. I have to tell you I contacted the hospital and the
records are no longer available according to them.
The fact that he was from Elmira, and had to go to Bath, NY tells me there
was no VA hospital in Elmira. That might eliminate some of your searching.
Wish I could be of more help.

Hi All,
> Perhaps someone out there can help me. My Great Grandfather, Patrick
> Monaghan, died 20 Jan 1920, in an Old Soldiers home, or VA hospital, or
something like that. I now have evidence (the memory of his Grandson, Thomas
Monahan Jr.) that it was in Elmira, NY.
But if Elmira, then why?
> Does anyone know of such a place in Elmira, or nearby?
