Sue, The easy way is to research the property deed at the county
clerks office and using the information locate the property.
If they not own the property then you would not find a deed. You
could copy the names near the person in the census and research their
deeds to obtain the area close to where they both lived. I have
also used the old county atlas maps with names to find people close
to a relative but that was for farm land. That land tends to stay
in the family and the parcels arealso bigger on a farm. Hope this
helps. Rick

Hi Folks, Im
posting this query to help someone who does not have net access ( I
would also like to know as it is interesting and involves the same
area Im researching in)

The question: Is there any way to determine the exact location of a
person's residence when the only info one has is that which is contained on
a census? Also, town directories are not known to exsist, or cant be
found.

For example, column 1 of the 1870 is "Dwelling-houses numbered in the order
of visitation"
A family on this census is given as dwelling number 253, and the family
itself is given as number 317.
