My grandparents both died when my mother was just a child so I never knew
them.I have obtained their death certificates, but am having trouble with the
birth certificates or any other information. My grandfather was James LENT.
He died December 28,1938. According to his death certificate, he was born
August 2, 1881. His parents were Daniel and Katherine (FARLEY) LENT. My
grandmother was Violet (SNYDER) LENT. She was born April 8, 1891 and died
November 20, 1937 (according to her death certificate.). Her parents were
John and Almira (WALKER) SNYDER (or SCHNEIDER). Almira said that her family
also included CRAIGs and MOTTs, and that the family had something to do with
a "Home (or House) of the Good Shepherd" which, I've been told was a home for
unwed mothers. Both of my grandparents had been married previously. I don't
know James Lent's first wife. Violet was married to Oliver MABEN and then to
John KOPH, and had two children from each marraige before she married my
grandfather.
I know this is long - hope people will skim and zero in on the surnames.
