If anyone has a William or John PECK who would have been in New York,
I would like to correspond with them...I thank you in advance. I've
chased my PECK family backwards from Iowa to New York, but stop abruptly
in New York.
John PECK was b 25 Feb 1828 in New York (according to his Civil War
papers). He seemed to have a multitude of wives (I've been able to count
up to four so far); one of his wives was Alsophina WORDEN. She was born
12 June 1839.
John and Alsophina (WORDEN) PECK are my direct ancestors and are buried
in Iowa.
John PECK's parents were William and Mary (SCHULTZ) PECK.
Any and all help greatly appreciated.

Dear Brenda:
Since my grandparents have a friend who is a PECK in NY (Ontario County), I
did a quick check of census data from 1850-1865. There are quite a few PECKs
in this county; I found some William & Johns, but no Alsophinas. I did not
check all townships. Perhaps you would have better luck than I (e.g., maybe
you know the names of the other wives). I downloaded the census files from
the Ontario County web page:

This web page is really great, and the historians will do research (not for
free, however).
Let me know if I can be of any further help.
Sincerely,
