Errors on Brooklyn birth certificates??

I just received my grandmother's birth certificate from the Municipal
Archives and I'm a bit confused. Bertha Petry was born in January of 1880
to Daniel Petry and Elizabeth Peter. Both parents would have been 26 in
that year and I have verification (marriage certificate, census and obituary
that Bertha indeed was born in 1880. Daniel was a butcher.

The problem is the birth certificate I just received says Bertha was born
January 15, 1888. All the other information is correct and it says her
parents were 26 which would not have been right in the year 1888 but right
in the year 1880. Do I assume that the year was filled in incorrectly, or
that although all the other information is correct this could possibly be
the wrong Bertha Petry (spelled Petri on the certificate)? Do I write to
the Archives and ask for their opinion? Any suggestions would be
appreciated. I hate to bother them when I know they are so busy.

Thanks!
