When you are dealing with a specific, it is really more advantageous to
have all the replies come to the list. You can really piece together
pieces of the puzzles this way. I have had this really work for me on
several of my specific lines. Some lists want to work this way. I believe
the Moore list is one of them. It has always worked this way. So does the
Knight and Moss lists I am on. Really, it is to your advantage. Also,
don't worry, this list goes in spurts. It can be active for a week or so
as people put stuff together, and then you hardly hear a peep for weeks. A
couple of times, I even checked to see if I was still subbed<g>. This is a
good list, so try to be patient, and your Missing Moores might be
connected.
One of the problems seem to be the burned counties. By these you have so
many missing documents, and people have records here and there and
everywhere and others have access to certain data that another person might
not have. This way, it is shared. It really is the BEST way. Believe me.
I just found my Rev War Soldier because the KNIGHT list was this way.
Someone went to the Archives for me and copied all the records, pensions
etc, another person in England had access to the transcripts of these
papers, which really helped because of the copying is poor. Another person
saw my query and searched in the IL military record books she has access to
and found that two of the children of my James Knight Sr, were in the war
of 1812, and they are specified as being from Edgar Co, IL. At the same
time, on another list, the Am Rev list, a lady just 'happened' to post a
marriage record of my James Knight and his wife and wondered if anyone
wanted a copy? Do you think I did? Boy and how!!!! I had only been on
that list for three days. This was all within a three day period. I have
been posting my Knight material for two years. In three days I jumped 4
states. This is just one example of how a list like this works. Trust me,
it does.
Good luck with your Moores.

Shouldn't we ask people to send personal correspondence to the
individual and not to the whole list? I have been flooded with personal
messages on the list lately. Just wondering!
Thanks!
