Hi, my name is Leanne and I am trying to track down a very elusive Moore
family for my husband. The earliest substantiated record I have is of his
George Moore (free) marrying a Mary Simmonds (free) on December 7th, 1837
at Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. George Moore signed his name and Mary
made her mark X. From his death record in 1856 it seems that George was
born c1810 place unknown. This is like looking for a needle in a haystack
with this surname! I have a very interesting obit. for George as he died
of a fit of insanity and it sure makes gruesome reading! His wife Mary
went on to marry a Thomas Thurston Gardiner in 1859. George & Mary had the
following children: Ellen Matilda born 1846, Hannah born 1849, Francis
Alfred George born 1851, Susanna Eliza born 1840, George/William born
c1838, Henrietta Charlotte born 1853 and Caroline Jane Eliz. born 1855. I
have found an I.G.I. entry for a Thomas Moore and Mary ? from Cavan - Drung
which lists children Mary born 1802, Jane born 1805, George born 1810,
Susanna born 1814, Matilda born 1823 and David born 1826. I know I am
grasping at straws but the names of the children are very similar to the
names George used for his children. What are my chances that this could be
the George I am searching for????? Any help will be gratefully accepted.
