Alexander MOORE my 3 grgf was a native of Tyrone County, Northern Ireland,
and was born ca 1798. It is thought that either he or his family went first
from Ireland to Eastern Canada, but the exact date is uncertain. He first
appeared in Clinton County, Northern New York State in the 1830 US Census
age 26-44 with a male child below the age of 5 and a female who is presumed
to be his wife also age 26-44.

His son, William MOORE was born in New York 23 Nov 1829, so it is presumed
that Alexander must have first married in NY ca 1828. Little is known of
his first wife, but by family tradition she was Scotch ancestry and also
according to family tradition there may be other Moore relatives who may
have stayed in Eastern Canada. We do not know her given name or maiden
surname.

In the 1840 US Census of Clinton County, NY, he was listed only with a male
child between the ages of 10-15 who is presumed to be my great grandfather,
William Moore. It is also presumed that his first wife probably died between
1830-1840, although no death records for her have been located. It is
thought that soon after 1840 he married Ann CAREY, born in Ireland ca 1818.
They lived in Ellenburgh, Clinton County, NY and had the following children:

1. Mary Ann MOORE born ca 1841 in NY and married Pat JOYCE

2. Peter MOORE born 11 Dec 1842 in NY.

3. Thomas MOORE born ca 1844 in NY.

4. Amasa MOORE born ca 1846 in NY.

5. Elizabeth "Betsey" MOORE born ca 1851 in NY and married Rev Marcus
CURRY.

6. Hannah MOORE born ca 1852 in NY and married Arthur McCOY.

7. Alice MOORE born ca 1855 in NY.

8 Lucy MOORE born ca 1859 in NY.

My great grandfather, William MOORE married Sarah DALEY, 31 Mar 1850, in
Ellenburgh, Clinton County, NY. Sarah was a daughter of Pardon and Lydia
DALEY of Ellenburgh. Pardon was originally from Washington County, NY and
was a son of Samuel DALEY. Shortly after their marriage, William and Sarah
MOORE moved to the Lake George area of Warren County, NY for several years,
and eventually came to California where they arrived by wagon train about
1860. They had a family Bible that is in the custody of my sister, Joyce
GRAUMAN of Kirkland, Washington. They had the following children:

1. Margarette Lydia MOORE born 9 Apr 1852 Lake George, Warren County, NY
and married 23 Jan 1870 to Rufus Collin WILSON, Alabama twp, Sacramento
County, CA. She died 18 Jan 1928 in Oakland, Alameda County, CA.

2. Ida Jane MOORE born 10 Jan 1856 Lake George, Warren County, NY and
married George WILKINSON 15 Nov 1875 at Woodbridge, San Joaquin County, CA.
She died 5 Mar 1939 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CA.

3. Lucy Carrey MOORE born 31 Jan 1859 in Lake George, Warren County, NY
and died 3 Oct 1859 in Lake George, Warren County, NY.

4. William Wilbor MOORE (my grandfather) born 23 Dec 1861, Consummes twp,
Sacramento County, CA and married 1. Emma Lydia HARRISON, (1867-1915), (my
grandmother) daughter of Eli and Mary Hannah (HOBSON) HARRISON, 4 Jun 1902
in LeGrande, Merced County, CA and 2. Pearl PARTRIDGE (1877-1948), ca 1915.
He died 1 Mar 1944 in Fresno, Fresno County, CA and is buried in Modesto,
Stanislaus County, CA.

5. Allen Augustus MOORE born 25 May 1863 in Sacramento County, CA and
married Emma Isabel POST. He died 27 Oct 1928 in Ripon, San Joaquin County,
CA.

6. Amelia Ann MOORE born 3 Aug 1866 in Sacramento, County, CA and married
1. Benjamin BOEN WILSON 12 Dec 1844 in Hill's Ferry, Stanislaus County, CA
and 2. Thomas GARRITY, Jr 1 Apr 1813. She died 25 Mar 1955 in Ceres,
Stanislaus County, CA.

I am especially interested in finding any clues so that I can pick up this
family line in Tyrone County, Ireland. I have done very little searching
there.
