I am also looking for a Moore line from Tyrone County, Ireland. Mine is an
Alexander Moore who was a native of Tyrone County and who was born ca 1798.
We do not know when he first arrived in the US, but believe he may have come
first to Canada before going to Northern New York. He lived at Beekmanton
and Ellenburgh, Clinton County, NY. We do not know if he came alone or with
someone else, but he was first documented here in 1830 when he was in the US
Census of Clinton County, NY. It is believed that he had two wives and that
he probably first married about 1828-1829 and my Great Grandfather William
Moore was born in NY 23 Nov 1829. His first wife's name is not known, but by
family tradition, she was of Scotisch descent. It is believed that she died
between 1830-1840. In the 1840 US Census he was alone with his son below the
age of 15. His second marriage was to Ann Carey, native of Ireland between
1840-1850.
I have done almost no searching in Ireland, so I have no idea where in
Tyrone County he might have originated. Would appreciate any suggestions you
might have.
