Q12
10 May 2002
From: Pat Cooper
Subject: Wagstaff/Ryan

Looking for information on any of the following, especially the Henshaw line. Have more information on Beals if anyone is interested.

STEPHEN8 BEALS (ABEL7, ABEL6, ANDREW5, JEREMIAH BEAL4 JR., JEREMIAH BEAL3 (LT.), JOHN2 BEALES, EDWARD1) was born April 17, 1791 in Annapolis, Nova Scotia, and died 1875. He married NANCY HENSHAW 1814 in Annapolis, Nova Scotia, daughter of SAMUEL HENSHAW and SARAH MORGAN. She was born 1789, and died 1875.

Notes for STEPHEN BEALS:

~ Notes for STEPHEN BEALS: Although Abel says in his will that "my six sons" (including Stephen) "have already received from me in lands what I intended to give them", there is no record of Stephen having received any land from his father. However he did buy 200 acres from George Kniffen at Waldec, Annapolis Co., (between Bear River and Clementsport) in 18 17. Ms wife was from that area. There were ten children in the family, 6 sons and four daughters. About 1845 four of the sons and one daughter migrated to Erin Township, Ontario, north west of Toronto and were among the early settlers of that area. Later two sons moved on to Peck, Michigan, north of Detroit. One son, Edward, was a sea captain who lived near the mouth of Bear River. Another son, Elijah, also lived in that area and fought in the American Civil War eventually dying of wounds received in that conflict.

More About STEPHEN BEALS:

Residence: Clementsport, Annapolis Co., N.S.

Children of STEPHEN BEALS and NANCY HENSHAW are:

2. i. SAMUEL9 BEALS, b. January 13, 1815, Inglisville, Annapolis Co., NS; d. 1884, Peck MI.
3. ii. GEORGE FLETCHER BEALS, b. May 20, 1816; d. 1905, Sarnia, Ontario.

5. iv. STEPHEN BEALS, b. March 05, 1820, Clementsport, Annapolis Co., N.S.; d. May 23, 1876, Grand Valley, Ontario.

I have:
Alexander Horner b. 1778 in Northern Ireland, lived in Dalhousie Settlement Anthony Horner, James Horner, William P. Horner as sons born in 1820s
