National Archives & Records - Genealogists are the most numerous users of the Washington, DC, research rooms, and 13 regional facilities of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). This area provides many of the finding aids, guides, and research tools that can prepare you for a visit to one of our facilities or for requesting records from NARA.

Maine GenWeb - The state of Maine GenWeb Project a great source for genealogical data for those researching relatives from the Atlantic Provinces.

Maine State Archives Web - The Archives is responsible for maintaining Maine State government's official records having continuing value. It also performs a records management function for the State government and schedules local government records. It promotes historical records programs throughout the state via the Maine Historical Records Advisory Board.

Library of Congress - The new Library of Congress Online Catalog is a database of approximately 12 million records representing books, serials, computer files, manuscripts, cartographic materials, music, sound recordings, and visual materials in the Library's collections. The Online Catalog also provides references, notes, circulation status, and information about materials still in the acquisitions stage.

The New England Historic Genealogical Society - The N.E.H.G.S. is a major source of genealogical information for New England and has extensive holdings of Canadian records. Their sales department offers many books which will be of interest to those with roots in Nova Scotia.
