Once land was granted by the Crown, any subsequent transaction was recorded as a deed.

Probate records include the will books, estate papers and supporting documents which enable the executors or appointed administrators to settle the estate.
Wills have been moved to the Registry of Probate on James Street.  There is a fee for each Will searched ($3-$6).  Appointments must be made in advance.

(Registry staff is not permitted to conduct searches of any kind.  It will be necessary for you to either search the records yourself or make arrangements to have someone in the area search the records for you.  There is a search fee of $5.00 per half day.)
