HIGGINS, Vernon Roy - 64, Owls Head, Halifax Co., died August 29, 1996, at Twin Oaks Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour. Born in Higginsville, he was a son of the late Roy and Ruby (Jennings) Higgins. He was a long standing member of St. John's Anglican Church, Westphal, where he served as warden and parish warden, sang in the choir and was a member of the council. At the time of his death, he was a member of St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Owls Head. He worked with the City of Dartmouth for 33 years, retiring in 1987. Surviving are his wife, Ivy; daughter, Shannon Weiterman, Mortons Harbour, Nfld.; son, Robert Woodgate, Westphal; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Marion (Mrs. Fred Laybolt), Viola (Mrs. George Laybolt), Lake Charlotte; brothers, Leslie, Brookvale; Eric, Higginsville; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Erle, Lyle. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4, 79 p.m. Sunday, funeral 1 p.m. Monday, all in St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Ship Harbour, Rev. Pamela Bishop officiating. Burial to follow in Higginsville Cemetery, Higginsville. Donations to St. Matthew's Anglican Church or any charity. Arrangements entrusted to Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. .
