STEVENS, Layton Edwin - 87, 6222 Willow St., Halifax, died January 1, 1997, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, VG Site. Born at Owls Head Harbour, Halifax Co., he was a son of the late Menno and Carrie (Palmer) Stevens. He was a member of St. Matthias Church, Halifax, and the Lodge of St. Mark 38. He worked for Nova Scotia Power Corp. in the transit division until his retirement. Surviving are his wife, Bertha (Myers); brother, David, Hantsport; sister, Jean (Mrs. Norman Hutt), Owls Head Harbour. He was predeceased by brothers, Gerald, Edson, Everett; sisters, Mrs. Nora Whitney, Mrs. Edna Newcombe, Mrs. Etta Power, Mrs. Beryl Stevens. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, memorial service 2 p.m. Friday, both in Snow's Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax, Rev. Joseph Pottie officiating, assisted by Rev. William Dye. Burial in Camp Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Matthias memorial fund, St. Matthew's Church, Owls Head Harbour, or any charity.
