STEVENS, David Palmer
STEVENS, David Palmer - 84, Hantsport, passed away April 1, 2003. He was born September 1918, in Owls Head Harbour, Halifax Co., a son of the late Menno and Carrie (Palmer) Stevens. David enlisted in the army in September 1939, serving during the Second World War in both Canada and Continental Europe. He attained the rank of sergeant, before earning his discharge in February 1946. He was an employee at Minas Basin Pulp & Power Company after returning home from overseas in 1946, until retirement in 1983. While David enjoyed all sports, he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. He was past president of the I.B.P.S.P.W., Union Local 304. David is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, A. May (Lockhart); son, William David (Jean), East Loon Lake; daughters, Jean Carol (Michael Bevan), Beaver Bank; Sylvia Ann (David Best), Hants Border; Beatrice Alene (Charles Rogers), Hantsport; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Hutt, Owls Head Harbour, Halifax Co.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Claire (Fergusson); infant daughter, Patricia in 1941; son, Geoffrey Alexander in 1964; daughter, Sandra Joy (Garth) Dunbar in 2002; brothers, Layton, Edson, Gerald, Everett; sisters, Nora, Helena, Etta, Edna. No visitation, by request. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in Lohnes~Beazley Memorial Chapel, 419 Albert St., Windsor, Rev. Michael Boyd officiating. A private family interment will be held in Riverbank Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to St. Andrews Anglican Church Memorial Fund, Hantsport.
