Per "Early Cape Breton Newspapers", Mildred Howard, p.137, had a sister, Mary, who died with him at sea i 1854 or 1855.

Mark Murphy [Parents] was born about 1814. He died about 1870. He married Ann Redmond on 14 Apr 1837 in St. Mary's, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Mark was counted in a census in 1838 in Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia.

Mark is listed in the 1838 census of Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia as a Yeoman, with a wife and one child under 6 years of age. The name is misspelled as Murkley in the transcription I have.

Also of note: the death date received from Kim Stevens must be in question given that Ann shows as a widow in the 1871 census..

Ann Redmond [Parents] was born 1, 2, 3 on 22 Dec 1817 in Wexford, Ireland. She died 4 on 17 Jul 1891 in Sheet Harbour, NS. She married Mark Murphy on 14 Apr 1837 in St. Mary's, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Ann Murphy is listed in the 1871 census of Sheet Harbour as a widow heading a household including Matthew, aged 34, Mark, aged 24, Patrick, aged 22, Mary Ann age 19, Annie, age 14 and going to school and Amelia, aged 5 months. She is listed as being neither able to read nor write. All are listed as Roman Catholic.

DEATH: There is a headstone for Ervin Lindsay, next to Susan (Murphy) Lindsay's grave in the St. Peter's Sheet Harbour Cemetery. Deathis recorded on the stone as 1913, age51. This is probably the person recorded in the Baptismal Register by Fr. Martin Maas as Ephrim. Maas used very unique spellings throughout his clerical career, to say the least.

Patrick J. Murphy [Parents] was born 1 on 16 Mar 1849 in Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada. He died 2, 3 on 9 Jun 1906 in Sheet Harbour, NS. He married Margaret Catherine Quillinan on 28 Jun 1880 in Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada.
