MOUNT PLEASANT - Mrs. Clarence J. PORTER, 69, of Mount Pleasant, Digby County, died Thursday in the Digby General Hospital. Born in Mount Pleasant, she was the former Dorothy Valentine Van Tassell, duaghter of the late Walter and Marion (McClary) VANTASSELL. She was a retired school teacher, having taught for 34 years in several Annapolis, Digby, and Yarmouth counties schools. She was a member of the Digby United Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband; a son Ray, Ashsburn, Ont, two daughters, Ida Jane (Mrs. Glenn Wright), Greenwood; and Dianne, Digby; three sisters, Isabella (Mrs. Walter JOHNSON) Mount Pleasant; Marguerite (Mrs. Kenneth GOLDEN), and Mary (Mrs. Farrell MONROE), both of Digby; a brother, Elliott, Mount Pleasant, and six grandchildren. The body is at Jayne's Funeral Home, Digby. Funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Digby United Baptist Church, REv. Murray Shaw officiating. Burial will be in the Digby Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charity of choice.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Claire KIRKER. The body will be cremated.
