DOUCET, Catherine Annie "Kay" - 88, Plympton, passed away in Digby General Hospital on January 29, 2008. Born in Doucetteville, she was a daughter of the late Eldon and Frances AMERO. She was predeceased by her husband, Leon; son, Eldon, and brother, Willard. She is survived by her son, Ernie (Cora) DOUCET; daughters, Jean (Bill) MELANSON, Edith (Ken) MELANSON, Judy (Tim) WALTERS, all of Ontario; seven grandchildren; three great-grandsons; niece, Diane COBHAM, and nephew, Frank AMERO. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday in Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Plympton. Interment at a later date. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Jayne's Funeral Home, Digby. O'FLAHERTY, Robert Anthony Douglas - 66, Digby, passed away with his family at his side in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax, on Thursday, January 31, 2008, at 12:15 p.m. Born in Verdun, Que., he was a son of the late Roy and Violet (LAMING) FLAHERTY. He loved his family and friends, all children and animals. Robert is survived by his brother, Roy; his former wife, Diane; his children, Ross, Colleen and Karen and their spouses, and his grandchildren, Mitchell, Danielle, Erin, Allison, Aiden, Emily, and Connor. Also surviving him are his favourite nieces, Gail, Donna and Rosemary; nephew, Patrick, and numerous other well-loved nieces and nephews. Best friends, Andy and Helen will also be grieving with us. Robert was predeceased by his brothers, Phillip and Fred. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. today and 12-2 p.m. Sunday in Annapolis Valley Funeral home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (Exit 14), Coldbrook. BURNS, Lois Irene - 89, Evergreen Nursing Home, Kentville, formerly of Digby, passed away February 2, 2008, in Evergreen Nursing Home for Special Care. Born in Mount Pleasant, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Harry and Estella (TOMPKINS) CRANDLEMIRE. In her earlier years, she owned and operated Harbour Bakery, Digby, and was employed as a nurse's aid from 1978-1993 at Tideview Terrace, Digby. Surviving are stepdaughter Phyllis LAWSON, Bayview, Digby Co.; stepson, Lewis (Myrna) BURNS, Bayview, Digby Co.; brother, Stanley, Mount Pleasant, N.B.; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene; brothers, James, Aubrey, and Glenn. ROBICHEAU, Elizabeth Elvena "Betty" - 72, Weymouth, Digby Co., passed away February 1, 2008, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in New Tusket, Digby Co., she was a daughter of the late Alphonse and Grace (GAUDET) THIBAULT. Betty was employed for 23 years as a funeral assistant with Jayne's Funeral Home in Digby and Weymouth, and helped many families in dealing with the loss of a loved one. Her kind and caring ways will never be forgotten. She also was employed for 15 years with the NSLC, Weymouth. Betty would volunteer her time with the Digby Detachment of the RCMP, Weymouth office, and with the Visitor Information Centre, Weymouth. Betty was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Weymouth. Surviving are daughters, Sherry (Brian) WAGNER, Shelly (George) TREFRY, both of Coldbrook, Kings Co.; sons, Allen and Jamie, both of Weymouth, Digby Co.; sister, Louise WHITE, Weymouth; brother, Tommy THIBAULT, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Amanda GILLARD, Jessica BEAUDOIN, Josh TREFRY, Ashley ROBICHEAU, Jodi ROBICHEAU; several nieces and nephews. JOHNSTON, Frances Elaine - of Lawrencetown formerly of Saint John, N.B. It is with regret that we announce the passing of a sister, an aunt and a good friend, at the Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville on February 9, 2008. Frances was born at Freeport, Digby Co., April 28, 1919 to Austin and Beatrice (ISRAEL) WESTCOTT. Her early education was in Freeport and she graduated from High School there. She enrolled in the Modern Business College at St. John, N.B. and in the ensuing years worked for various business firms in the city including the St. John Dry Dock. She and her husband later opened one of the area's first Dairy Bars just outside the city limits. Frances enjoyed traveling and trailering throughout the Maritimes with her husband. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry, her parents and brother Rev. Dr. S.A. WESTCOTT. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Maxine COREY with whom she resided for the last four years; her nephews, James (Marlene) COREY, Robert COREY and Greg SCOTT. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Jim (Lois) JOHNSTON, nieces and nephews, Derek, Terry, Betty Sue, and Kelly in the United States. SAVARY, Walter Vincent - 73, Joggins Bridge, Digby Co., passed away February 10, 2008, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Digby, he was a son of the late Russell and Aleitha (WINCHESTER) SAVARY. Walter was a past member of The Keith Lodge Branch No. 16, Bear River. He was a mason and brick layer by trade, working with his father. He enjoyed the simple life; skating and playing hockey were his passions. He was a real character who was always full of fun. He enjoyed raising bull dogs. Surviving are his stepmother, Ola, Halifax; companion, Kim COMEAU; sisters, Avis DEXTER, Digby; Muriel CROWE, Ontario; Enid OLAFSON, Alberta; half-sisters, Lauren and Marlene, both of Halifax; half- brothers, Nathan and Merrill, both of Halifax; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Wyley, Glen, James, Layton and two in infancy; sister, Dorothy. DOUCET, Félix Martin "The Cat" - Passed away just before high tide on Sunday, February 10, 2008, in Digby, with a view of the Annapolis Basin and the beaches where he spent a large part of his life. His wife, the former Anna Belle PRIME of Centreville, Digby Co., was by his side. It takes energy, hard work and commitment to raise six children. A very capable man, Félix built his own house at 17 in New Edinburgh. For the next 60 years, he worked in a coffin factory, sold fish, dug clams, ran a clam business supplying restaurants from Digby to Barrington, lobster fished, worked as carpenter, worked on freighters for the American Gypsum Company out of Hantsport, and finally returned to digging clams with his brother Louis before working as a janitor at Weymouth Consolidated. In his spare time, he dug more clams, and when he couldn't fish anymore, watched his children and grandchildren dig them for him. Life began and ended with a view through and of blue. Apart from his wife, Félix leaves behind his children, Lois (Fred) CHISLETT, Barrie, Ont.; Phillip (Paulette), New Edinburgh; Martin (Joceline), Berwick; Kimberley (Cameron) POTTS, Milton, Ont.; Angela DOUCETTE, Portapique; Maxine DOUCETTE, Weymouth; brothers, Neil, Amherst; Urbain, New Edinburgh; Albert, Moncton, N.B.; sister, Agnes MELANSON, Saulnierville; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Bernard, Isaac, Louis and Pierre; sisters, Claudette and Thérèsa. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Meteghan Funeral Home. BERRY, Arthur Howard - 87, Smith's Cove, Digby Co., passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2008, in the Veterans Wing of Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Smith's Cove, he was a son of the late William H. BERRY and Euta (SIMMONS) BERRY. Arthur was a veteran of the Second World War, and served overseas in France, Holland, Germany, and Belgium with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. He was employed at CFB Cornwallis for 25 years in the clothing stores division. He was a member of Smith's Cove Baptist Church where he served as treasurer for many years. He also enjoyed singing in the men's choir. Art greatly loved gardening around his home and caring for the birds that visited the outside feeders. He is survived by his wife, Frances (WEIR) BERRY; daughters, Brenda (John) OIKLE, Stewiacke; Holly (Paul) LEWIS, Dartmouth; brother, Lawrence BERRY, Smiths Cove; grandchildren, Craig OIKLE (Jane KELDERMAN), Pictou; Jeff OIKLE (Kelly EMERY), Stewiacke; Laura and Leslie LEWIS, Dartmouth. MEUSE, Frank Stephen Sr. - 81, Bear River First Nation, passed away peacefully in Annapolis Royal Nursing Home on February 13, 2008. Born and raised on the Bear River First Nation Reserve, Frank was an avid craftsman and enjoyed being in the woods. In his younger days, he attended the Shubenacadie Residential School and later became a veteran of the Korean War. He was skilled in trades such as barbering and auto body repair. He enjoyed walking, taking care of his rose bushes, feeding the seagulls and playing cards. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Rose (JEREMY) MEUSE; brothers, Clarence (killed in action), Jim, Bruce, Joe Louis, and sisters, Marguerite and Olive. He is survived by brother, Oliver MEUSE, Cohoes, N.Y. Frank Sr. and the late Lois HARLOW-MEUSE were the proud parents of Frank Jr., Theresa (Kevin), Steve (Heather), David (Judy), and Rose (Nathan). Born in Conway, Digby Co., she was a daughter of the late Fletcher and Nora (WOODMAN) ADAMS. Lillian was a former nanny working in New Jersey before entering Teacher's College. Upon graduating, she taught in Deep Brook, Albany New and Northfield. Lillian, along with her husband Gordon, ran a convenience store where she also served as post mistress for Canada Post. Lillian enjoyed crafts and knitting and belonged to the Seniors Group and the Women's Institute of Nova Scotia. She is survived by her sisters, Joyce SMITH, Whitby, Ont.; Frances FREEMAN, Dartmouth; brothers, Vaughan, Digby; Arnold, Landsdown; Guy, Smith's Cove, as well as several nieces and nephews. COSMAN, Richard Edwin "Rick" - C.W.O., Retired. Passed away in Kingston, Ont., on Saturday, February 16, 2008, at the age of 56, after a short struggle with cancer. Born in Weymouth, Rick enjoyed life, especially his 33 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. He will be woefully missed by his loving wife, Rosanne; daughter, Krista; son, Keith, and grandson, Jack. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Alma and Malcolm, and is survived by sisters, Gail of Pleasantville; Colleen of Shelburne, Marianne of Mahone Bay, Joanne of Hammonds Plains, and his brother, Stephen of Rexton, N.B. She was born in Little River, Digby Co., on December 5, 1925, and was a daughter of the late Vera and Nelson KELLY. She had resided with her sister, Mabel and brother-in-law Jim, since 1952. She worked in the Corner Grocery store for many years. She was a very special family member and was a loving sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She loved knitting baby clothes, quilting and talking on the phone with family and friends. Her favourite evening pastime for the last few years was playing cribbage with her sister and her special cousin and friend, Avis GIDNEY. She was predeceased by her parents; infant brother, Gordon; brother and sister- in-law, Garnet and Irene; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helena and Martin BARNES, Margaret and Gordon JAY, Mildred and Clyde DENTON; brother-in- law, William CARTER and nephew, Marty GRAHAM. She is survived by her sister, Mabel and brother-in-law Jim GRAHAM; twin sister, Vera CARTER; nieces and nephews, Kelly (Eula) BARNES, Karen GOOD (Danny MAXWELL), Larry (Karla) KELLY, Tony (Anna-Marie) KELLY, John (Sharon) JAY, Allen (Cheryl) DENTON, Harley DENTON, Pam (Robert) DUGAS, and Erin GARAGAN. She is also survived by 29 great and great great-nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. Alma was loved by many and will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. Visitation Thursday, February 21, from 7-9 p.m. in Jayne's Funeral Home, 7 Birch St., Digby. Funeral will take place in Little River United Baptist Church on Friday, February 22, at 2 p.m. Family Interment in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Alma may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Little River United Baptist Church Hillcrest Cemetery Fund or a charity of your choice.

SAULNIER, Gerald Arthur - 60, Belliveau Cove, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at 4:35 p.m. on February 18, 2008, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born at home on June 4, 1947, he was the son of Muriel (MUISE) and the late Stanley SAULNIER. Having two trades of bricklayer and electrician, he worked with various construction firms both in Halifax and in Clare. He was the construction estimator for Church Point Construction. His last position was with Belliveau Motors as a car dealer. He loved life and he truly was determined to live it to the fullest. He loved being outdoors enjoying nature with its beautiful surroundings. He enjoyed telling jokes and organizing practical jokes with his friends. He was a storyteller, avid hunter (getting his deer last fall), great chef, golfer (always keeping his teammate's score and who paid the coffee on the 17th in his notebook), gold wing rider, woodcrafter. He always enjoyed cooking his Sunday dinners with his family and friends. He was a mentor to his family and friends. Surviving are the love of his life, Charelle (THÉRIAULT); sons, Bryan (Racquel), Saulnierville; Ghislain, Bedford; granddaughters, Chloé, Mylène, Josyane; sisters, June (William), Quebec; Rose-Marie (Hubert), Meteghan River; father-in-law, Fidele THÉRIAULT, Belliveau Cove; sisters-in-law, Gloria (Claude) PELLETIER, Edmundston, N.B.; Glenna (Everett) TITUS, Saulnierville; Deanna THÉRIAULT, Belliveau Cove; brothers-in-law, Rayale (Jacqueline) THÉRIAULT, St. Bernard; Gary (Caroline) THÉRIAULT, Belliveau Cove; nieces and nephews, Michelle, Rachelle, Danny, Claudria, Shawn, Christianne, Melissa, Joel, Nicolas, Louanne and Gabriel. DEVEAU, J. Victor - 68, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 20, 2008, in the VG Site, QEII after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Salmon River, on March 30, 1939, he was a son of the late Adolphe and Rachel DEVEAU. He retired from DRFA where he worked as a carpenter for 27 years. He was a dedicated member of the Halifax Wildlife Association, an avid collector and member of The Atlantic Tool Collectors. Victor was a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Social Club where he met his future wife of 44 and a half years, the former Lorraine CHIASSON; He is also survived by daughter, Simone (Stephen) CROOKS; son, Andrew (Kimberly) DEVEAU, all of Dartmouth; brothers, Roger (Rita), Dartmouth; Cleveland (Sharon), British Columbia; sisters, Loretta (Jack) DOLHANTY, British Columbia; Marguerite (Joseph) MacLELLAN, Ontario; grandchildren, Michelle, David CROOKS, Emma DEVEAU; many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Born in Digby, she was the daughter of Arnold ROBICHEAU and Barbara (WRIGHT) EVERETT. Barbara was a very active person throughout her life as well as being a loving wife and mother. She is survived by her common-law husband, Eric SPROULE; sons, David ROBICHEAU, Eric SPROULE Jr. and Jake SPROULE, all of Kingston; brothers, Arnold (Crystal) ROBICHEAU, Toronto, Ont.; Charles ROBICHEAU, Digby; five nieces and nephews; and stepfather, Norman EVERETT. She was predeceased by daughter, Amanda ROBICHEAU. Cremation has taken place.
