These headstones are in a beautiful setting in the cemetery behind the the Kempt Shore Church. Formerly United. Originally Presbyterian. Est. 1865. The view is of the sandbar at the mouth of the Avon River where the "Achilles", also known as the "Pratt vessel" met it’s fate on November 30, 1871. The Captain, John Geddes, is buried in this cemetery. Some [or all?] of his crew were identified by their loved ones and taken home to be buried.
