MACUMBER,
Captain Henry G. (died 26 Mar, 1924) - WINDSOR, May 23 - The
remains of Captain Henry Gilbert Macumber arrived here this
evening from Falmouth, MASS., accompanied by Mrs. Macumber and
her two sons, Harold and Percy. It was on March 26th, while
enroute from New York to Windsor, that Captain Macumber was lost
overboard from the barge William B. Fancher, of the United
States Gypsum Company's fleet. A severe storm was raging at the
time, and while going to anchor at Vineyard Haven, Captain
Macumber became entangled in the hawser. His son, Harold, was
with his father on the barge, and a diligent search was
continually kept up until last Monday, when the body was
recovered, about ten miles across channel from the scene of the
accident. The remains will be laid to rest on Sunday afternoon
at 1.30 o'clock from the Methodist Church, with Masonic honors.
Captain Macumber was a native of Cheverie, and his family
resided at Port Richmond, Staten Island, NY.
