McPHEE, George
Thomas - well known, Brunswick Street Resident and native of
West Indian Road, Hants County, passed away Sunday morning at
the age of 77. The deceased had been in ill health for the past
three months and his death was not entirely unexpected. the late
Mr. McPhee suffered an eye injury during the Great War while
employed in a munitions factory here, the effect of which a
short time later he became totally blind. He bore the affliction
with great patience and cheerfulness and was usually in the best
of spirits. He was a fine violinist and this along with his
favorite pastime of playing checkers on a special board, helped
him to bear his misfortune with a smile. He was a faithful
member of the First United Church and before he was handicapped
attended regularly. Mr. & Mrs. McPhee celebrated their 53rd
wedding anniversary last December. He is survived by his wife,
sons, Elmer and Mosher of Truro; Howard of Randolph, Mass.;
Clyde, Cambridge, Mass.; daughters Ruby (Mrs. C. A. Brown)
Truro; Ethel (Mrs. Kenneth MacKenzie) Truro, 21 grandchildren
and 5 great grandchildren. The funeral was held from the home of
his daughter Mrs. C. A. Brown. Interment Robie Street Cemetery

McPHEE, Elmer
- well known railwayman and resident of Salmon River, passed
away in Boston late Friday night, according to word received
here by his family on Saturday. Several weeks ago Mr. McPhee
accompanied by his wife, went to the United States for medical
treatment and on Friday took a turn for the worse, passing away
late last night. His father the late Thomas McPhee, passed away
on Sunday last. Mr. McPhee was born at West Indian Road, Hants
County and would have reached his 49th birthday on this coming
Tuesday. He came to Truro about 30 years ago, when his parents
moved here and has resided here ever since. He had spent about
23 years in the service of the CNR here and at different times
when work was slack on the railway had worked at the Brookfield
Creamery and in the insurance business. He is survived by his
wife the former Emmeline Whidden and four children, Guy, Evelyn,
Electa and Iris at home and a son Alfred and daughter Elsie by a
former marriage, who both live in Truro. He is also survived by
his mother, brothers Mosher, Howard, and Clyde, sisters Ethel
and Ruby. The remains will be brought to Truro on Monday and the
funeral will be held from his late residence on Wednesday.

MASON, Mrs.
Minnie - At Centre Rawdon, March 11, Mrs. Minnie Mason,
widow of Judson Mason, passed away, aged 79 years, after a brief
illness. She was a daughter of the late Judson and Rachael
Williams of Rawdon Gold Mines. Coming from the U.S. as a bride
to the hillside home fifty-one years ago she made many friends
who sorrow at her going. A devoted wife and mother, yet in the
midst of a busy life, raising her large family, she found time
always to extend a helping hand to those in trouble or on sick
beds. A faithful member and supporter of the Rawdon Baptist
Church she will be much missed as well as in the missionary
society in which she took a deep interest. Her step-daughter
Clara Mason in India will miss her sympathy and interest in her
work. Mrs. Mason was the mother of ten children of whom six
survive: Edith, wife of Theodore Foster, Spiers, Sask.; Alice,
Mrs Welton McLearn, South Rawdon; George, Stanley; Bessie, Mrs
Issac Pineo, Marshfield Hills, Mass.; Howard at home, and Ida,
Mrs. Ralph O'Brien, Scotch Village. Also twenty-nine
grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three step-children,
John, Sutherland, Sask., Clara, missionary in India, and Leila,
Mrs James B. Blois, South Rawdon. The funeral services were
conducted on March 14, conducted by Rev. Frances Dawson. The
body was laid to rest in the family lot on the hill top at
Rawdon.

McLEOD, Mary
- Windsor - June 23 - The death occurred at Payzant Memorial
Hospital this morning of Miss Mary McLeod, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. David McLeod, Three Mile Plains, following an attack of
spinal meningitis. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon
from her parent's home. Surviving are her parents, two brothers
Harold and John, and a sister, Minnie.

WEISNER, James
A. - Newport Station, Sept 2 - The death occurred Wednesday
evening of James A. Weisner at the P. M. Hospital, Windsor, aged
78 years. He is survived by four sons, Roy of Windsor; Harris of
Bridgewater; Charles of Canard and Lawson of U.S.A.; and by four
sisters, Mrs. Wallace Collicutt, Cannan; Mrs. Scott Sarty; Mrs.
D. Armstrong and Mrs. Richard Awalt.
