HORNE, Walter
W. - The death occurred yesterday of Walter William Horne, a
widely known resident of Halifax, in his 78th year. A carpenter
by trade, Mr. Horne was for half a century an employee of the
firm of John MacInnes and Sons. Mr. Horne was particularly
well-known in the south end of the city, having made his home at
9 Rottenburg street for many years. A son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Horne, he is survived by four brothers, Joseph of
Halifax; David, Dartmouth; Arthur of Halifax and Gordon of
Moncton, N.B.; and five sisters, Mary, Mrs. Moore, Arlington;
Grace, Arlington; Ada, Halifax; Louise, Mrs. Fred Dalrymple,
Elmsdale; and Gladys, Mrs. William Pounder, Halifax. The funeral
will be held from the residence, 9 Rottenburg street, on
Wednesday morning in time for requiem Mass in St. Mary's
cathedral at 8 o'clock, interment in Mount Olivet cemetery.

STANLEY, Mrs.
R. J. - Strathroy, Ont. died July 21, 1945, the formerly Ida
Dunlop of Falmouth and Hantsport, N. S., and sister of W. C.
Dunlop, K.C. of Halifax died leaving her husband and five
children, the oldest 14. Her mother, Mrs. E. A. McCaughin, moved
here from Hantsport only last year. Mrs. F. G. McGovern (Meta)
of Highland Park, Michigan, and Mrs. A. S. McFarlane (Ellen) of
Mulgrave, N. S., are sisters of the deceased and William C.
Dunlop and John A. Dunlop of New York are brothers. The funeral
will be held on Monday with burial in St. James cemetery, Lucan.

BROWN, William
- The Death occurred at the P. M. Hospital on Tuesday, Sept.
4th, at 2:30 p.m., of William Alfred Brown, Windsor, aged 66
years. He was the son of John C. and Rebecca Brown. There
survives his wife, the former Bessie Pineo; also four daughters,
Minnie (Mrs. Martin Zeoll), of Weymouth, Mass; Bertha and Ethel
and Maddeline (Mrs. Geo. Matthews), at home; also two sons, Pte.
W. A. Brown and Gordon; three brothers, Maurice and Thomas of
Cumberland, Maine, and Nelson, of Halifax. The funeral was held
from his late residence, Wiley St. on Saturday, Sept. 8th at
2:30 p.m., Rev. E. V. Forbes officiating.
