RAFUSE, James Edward - The death of one of Hants County's best known citizens in the person of James Edward Rafuse occurred Saturday last at his home in Falmouth, following a short illness. He had been in failing health the past year, but was able, within a few weeks ago, to attend to his shop duties at Windsor. James Rafuse, best known as Jim, had a friendship and acquaintanceship far beyond the bounds of Nova Scotia, for he was the man whose services were sought in any and all difficulties of a mechanical nature, the solution of which was beyond the ability of others to solve. Regardless of the order nothing was too complicated. A born genius, possessing ability that was recognized in some of the large automotive centers of Canada, who successfully sought to engage him on a permanent basis. His abilities here will be keenly felt by all, this is to include the children who had beaten a path to his workshop. The lathe, the saws, the drills and an endless array of tools may move again, but these will not be found in the hands of so able a craftsman. The deceased, at the time of his death, was nearing his 82nd birthday. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Rafuse of Lunenburg and came to Windsor over 60 years ago. He was twice married, his first wife was Jessie Davis of Windsor, and of that union, there were two daughters, Eva and Gladys. The former resides in the US while Gladys died several years ago. The second wife, who survives him, was the former Eva Walker, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Whitman Lantz, Falmouth, and formerly of Chester Basin, N. S. Of this union there were no children. The funeral, largely attended, was held on Sunday afternoon at which the Rev. A. E. Todd officiated. Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery.
