PIDGEON, Claude
- Mrs. F. E. Harriott has received word of the death on March
23rd at a Vancouver hospital of her only brother, Claude Pidgeon.
Mr. Pidgeon was born in Windsor 78 years ago, the son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pidgeon. He served in World War One and
was badly gassed. After his return he moved to British Columbia
where he married. His only son, Flying Officer George Pidgeon
lost his life in World War Two. Surviving are his wife, a
daughter, Mary (Mrs. Pratt), Vancouver; three sisters, Annie
(Mrs. F. E. Harriott), Lena (Mrs. C. A. Munro), Vancouver and
Nina (Mrs. Harold Bothal), Tacoma, Washington. Funeral services
and interment were held in Vancouver.

WELLS, Thorold
Woodbury - Former Deputy Mayor Hantsport Dies At 66 -
WINDSOR - One of Hantsport’s prominent citizens Thorold Woodbury
Wells died at the Payzant Memorial Hospital Monday. Mr. Wells
was born at Port Elgin, N. B., the son of the late Wm. W. and
Ella (Turner) Wells and was 66. He attended Mount Allison
University and thirty years ago came to Liverpool where he had a
general store. While at Liverpool he was a charter member and
the first president of the Kiwanis Club. Nineteen years ago he
moved to Hantsport where he became manager of the lumber
department of the Minas Pulp and Paper Co. He served on the town
council and was deputy mayor. He was chairman of the Hantsport
school board, served as a board member on the Hants county
branch of the Children’s Aid Society and on the V. O. N. He was
a member of the Edward Lodge, IOOF, Rotary Club and was
appointed vice president a year ago. He is survived by his wife,
the former Marjorie Enman of New Brunswick; a son Wm. W.,
Kemptville, Ont.; two daughters, Phyllis (Mrs. T. J. Nunn),
Ottawa; Constance (Mrs. James Gray), Montreal; his step-father,
T. J. Allen, Moncton; and a sister Mrs. L. T. Tingley,
Fredericton. The remains will rest at the Lohnes and Botten
Funeral Home, Windsor until noon on Thursday. The funeral will
be held from St. James United Church, Hantsport at 2:30,
Thursday afternoon, Rev. Neil MacLeod officiating. Interment at
Riverbank cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the
crippled children’s fund of the Rotary Club, Windsor, will be
appreciated by the family.

RAFUSE, Clyde
Ronald - 60, died December 24, at the Payzant Memorial
Hospital. Son of the late Anthony and Lavinia Rafuse, he was
born in Waterville, Kings County. During the First World War he
served in Italy and Belgium and at the Battle of Vimy Ridge. He
was a member of the Canadian Legion. A resident of Windsor for
over 30 years, Mr. Rafuse was employed as a foreman for the Nova
Scotia Light and Power Company for that length of time. He was a
member of the Baptist Church. He is survived by his widow, the
former Minnie Gould, Berwick; six daughters, Margaret (Mrs.
Robert Wendell), Pauline (Mrs. Graham Singer) and Marjorie (Mrs.
Ronald Blakney), all of Halifax; Dorothy (Mrs. Lawrence Tucker),
Wassaga Beach, Ontario; and Jesse and Vivian, at home; four
sons, Seymour, Portage La Prairie; Charles, Sudbury; Carl, Camp
Petawawa, and Clyde Jr., at home; and 11 grandchildren. Also
surviving are three sisters, Annie (Mrs. Arthur King),
Wentworth; Emma (Mrs. Rupert Banks), Washington, DC; and Mary
(Mrs. Percy Sawler), Boston; and three brothers, Bob, Frank and
Earl, all of Waterville. A son, Gerald, predeceased him. The
remains rested at the R. D. Lindsay Funeral Home. Funeral
services were held at the Windsor Baptist Church, Tuesday, Rev.
E. Churchill officiating. Interment was in the Windsor Cemetery.
