Leslie - WINDSOR - Fred Leslie Leighton of Windsor died
Thursday at the age of 75. Born at Wentworth, Hants County where
he resided most of his life, he was son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Leighton. He was an adherent of the Baptist Church.
Remains are at R.D. Lindsay Funeral Home, Windsor, where funeral
service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. E.D.
Churchill officiating. Interment Windsor cemetery.

STARRATT,
Francklyn Zwicker - WALTON - Francklyn Zwicker Starratt of
Walton, Hants County, died Wednesday evening at the Victoria
General Hospital, Halifax, at the age of 58. Born at Walton, he
was son of the late Captain and Mrs. Avard L. Starratt. He was a
member of St. Matthew's Anglican Church. He is survived by his
wife, the former Frances Garrick of Winnipeg. A brother Ralph
predeceased him in 1953. The body is at R.D. Lindsay Funeral
Home, Windsor. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m.
from his residence, with Rev. H.B. Wainwright officiating.
Interment in Walton Church of England cemetery.

CANNING,
Charles Thomas - WEST GORE - Funeral service for Charles
Thomas Canning, 56, was held at the Church of Christ
(Disciples), West Gore, Rev. Eric G. Fullerton of the United
Church, Cole Harbour Road, officiating. Interment was in the
family plot, West Gore Cemetery. Mr. Canning died at the
Victoria General Hospital following a stroke. Born at
Clarksville, Hants County, he was the eldest son of the late
Thomas and Cassie (MacInnis) Canning. He resided for a number of
years at Riverside Corner and West Gore before the family moved
to Port Wallace where they have since resided. He is survived by
four sisters, Katie (Mrs. Mark Foster), Margate, Fla., Anna
(Mrs. Wilfred Boutilier), Halifax, Margaret (Mrs. John Clarke),
Armdale, and Norma (Mrs. Girouard), Toronto; and one brother,
Howard, Port Wallace. A brother Rayburn predeceased him.

MCLELLAN, Henry
Ivan - WINDSOR - Henry Ivan McLellan died at his home in
Burlington, Wednesday. He was 84. He served overseas in World
War I from 1917-19. He was a member of the Baptist Church and
was a farmer. Surviving are his wife Albertha Ada and two
daughters: Ellen (Mrs. Kenneth Chambers) Brooklyn and Eva (Mrs.
Neil Chambers) Brooklyn; two sons: Lewis, Toronto, and Emery,
Scotch Village; two brothers: Stuart, Bramber, Hants County, and
Edgar, Meridan, Conn.; one sister, Margaret, Halifax and eight
grandchildren. Funeral service will be held from the Centre
Burlington Church Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Powell
officiating. Interment will be in the family lot at Kempt Shore,
Hants County.

RAFUSE, Ada
Margaret - The sudden death occurred at her home in Windsor,
Sunday, of Mrs. Ada Margaret Rafuse, at the age of 76. A devoted
member of the Windsor Baptist Church, she was the daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Benedict of Upper Falmouth. She was
a member of the Baptist Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of
the Missionary Society. Mrs. Rafuse is survived by four
daughters, Hilda (Mrs. Thomas O'Connell) of Windsor; Edna, (Mrs.
Stewart Gordon) of Halifax; Alma (Mrs. Gordon Gallen) of Ottawa;
and Gladys (Mrs. Maurice Randall) of Windsor, Ontario; six sons,
Roy, of Middleton; Leslie, of Hantsport; Arthur, of Burlington;
and William, Harold and Clarence, all of Windsor; two sisters,
Annie, of Dorchester, Mass.; and Effie, of Kentville; and two
brothers, Frank, of Mount Denson; and Russell of Hantsport.
Remains are resting at the R. D. Lindsay Funeral Home where the
services will take place Wednesday at 2 o'clock. Rev. E. C.
Churchill will officiate. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery,
Windsor.

BAKER, Mrs.
John I. - Windsor, Mrs. John I. Baker died yesterday at the
Masonic Home, six weeks before her 100th birthday. Mrs. Baker,
the former Alice M. Mader, was born at Mahone Bay but had lived
all her married life in Windsor. Her husband predeceased her 35
years ago. She was a member of the Windsor Baptist Church and in
her younger days was active in church work. She was a charter
member and past noble grand of Leila Rebekah Lodge, Windsor.
Funeral will be held from the Lohnes Funeral Home Thursday at
2:30 p.m. with Rev. E. C. Churchill officiating. Interment will
be at Maplewood cemetery, Windsor.

DILL, Mrs. Eva
O. - WINDSOR - Mrs. Eva O. Dill, of Curry's Corner, died at
Payzant Memorial Hospital yesterday after a long illness. She
was 86. Mrs. Dill was the daughter of the late Joseph and
Margaret Robertson Miller and was born at Newport, Hants County.
With the exception of a few years in the United States and in
Halifax, she had lived in Windsor all her life. She is survived
by one daughter, Bertha (Mrs. Lewis Smith) Windsor and one son
Joseph, Curry's Corner; 12 grandchildren; 32 great
grandchildren; one sister Georgette (Mrs. Henry Millett) Martock,
Hants County. Her husband predeceased her several years ago.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. from Lohnes
Funeral Home, Windsor with Rev. Edgar A Robertson of
Lawrencetown officiating. Interment will be in Maplewood
Cemetery, Windsor.

BARKHOUSE,
Hattie Blanche - widow of the late Wiswell Barkhouse of
Center Burlington, Hants County, died Sunday after a prolonged
illness. She was 82. She was born at Forrest Holmes, Kings
County, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Jones. She had
lived in Hants County since 1908. Her husband predeceased her in
1955. Surviving are four sons, George and Ross, Center
Burlington; Harry, Newport; Norman, Summerville; four daughters,
Minnie (Mrs. Walter Salter), Windsor; Margaret (Mrs. Glendon
Hayman), Augusta, Me.; Leona (Mrs. Arthur Croswell) Halifax;
Lillian (Mrs. Carmen Sanford), Center Burlington; one brother,
Harry Jones, Forrest Holmes; one sister, Beatrice (Mrs. Markus
Brown), Dartmouth; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. from Lohnes Funeral
Home, Windsor. Interment will be in Center Burlington Cemetery.
