HILCHIE, Ernest
Nightingale - 84, Sterling Brook, Hants County, passed away
August 7, 1996, in the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born
in Minasville on September 4, 1911, he was the son of the late
Roland and Marion (Hamilton) Hilchie. He was a butter maker at
Bay View Creamery, later became Manager, he farmed for several
years and was a foreman with Dept of Transportation retiring in
1976. He was an avid gardener and fisherman. He is survived by
his wife, the former Kathleen (Dean) Gorman; two sons, Roland
and his wife Effie, Lower Selma; Brian, Winnipeg; two daughters,
Sheila Green and husband Leonard, Lower Selma; Sandra Hines and
husband Murray, East Noel; eight grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; a brother Harold, Noel; several nieces and
nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, William, Borden,
Earle; two sisters, Evelyn, Vivian. The family requests no
visitation at the funeral home, family and friends may visit at
the Hilchie residence. Arrangements have been entrusted to the
Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. The funeral service will be
held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 1996 in Selma United Church,
Rev. Wade Allen officiating. Burial will be in the church
cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to
Selma United Church Cemetery or to the charity of one's choice.
