Comments:Very nice site. I am searching for the family of John Coumans Sr. and his wife, Jane Sargeant. They were in New Brunswick by 1819/20. Originally from County Cork, Ireland, they had 5 of their 7 children in New Brunswick before moving to North Easthope Township, Huron, (now Perth County), Ontario about 1840. I do not know where in New Brunswick they lived. John Sr. Coumans may be the brother of one Thomas Coumans who also was born in Ireland(perhaps Waterford) in 1794. John Sr. Coumans was born about 1795. Both were Catholics, although John Sr. Coumans married Jane Sargeant who became a Catholic. Any information on their parents, or anyone with access to the marriage record of January 8, 1824 of Thomas Coumans to Abigail Pride in Liverpool, Queens, County, Nova Scotia would be greatly appreciated. Thomas Coumans, apparently became a Methodist for a while, then returned to the Catholic faith before dying. His tombstone lists his name as "Cummins", perhaps as a reference to what his name was in Ireland.Abigail Pride's mother was a Sargeant also. Thank you, Gabriel Sheridan
