Scope
This web site
was created to be a portal of information on the Minas Acadian
history.
- The Minas
Historical Society is a loose society that exist on the
good will of its support group: contributors, volunteers,
and interested web visitors. The society is not incorporated
and its scope will evolve according to it support group.
The web site is now managed by Roger Hétu and is
hosted under RootsWeb Agreement
for Genealogical/Historical Societies.
- By "Minas"
we mean mainly the five tidal rivers (Pereau, Habitant,
Canards, St-Antoine and Gaspereau) where Acadians settled
since the 1680's. However, by extension it also includes
all the Minas basin settlements (all the shore between
Cape Blomindon to Cape D'Or).
- In the "Pre-Deportation
History" the Acadian Odyssey (1755-1800s) that resulted
will be included.
- Upon availability
of contributors, early Minas Mik'maw history could be
included.
- Upon availability
of contributors, early Planters history could be included.
- By historical
information we mean

- folklore:
customs, oral traditions, legends & family stories
- etc..
