Ballina & Richmond River GenWeb BOURKE Four Bourke brothers lived along the Southern edge of the Richmond River, between Mobbs Bay & Burns Point. They each had a separate humpy, were professional fishermen & had oyster leases too. Their names were Tommy, Harry, Franky & Jimmy. In a very sad set of circumstances, Jimmy hung himself. Many years later, Harry went to Franky's humpie & shot him. Harry had stacked old tyres in his home. He then returned home, lit the tyres & shot himself. The fire could be seen from a considerable distance. Many locals still remember seeing the black smoke.
