In 1884 Marmaduke and family migrated to NSW on the ‘Templar’ which sailed from Cork, Ireland, on 16 May and arrived Sydney on 27 August. (5) Elizabeth (Marmaduke’s stepdaughter???) died during the voyage. (2)

For the first 12 months in the Colony Marmaduke, Robert, William and Christopher worked as farm labourers for William Bowman of Richmond, near Parramatta. (6)

Jane West married Thomas Byrnes in 1846 at Sydney. They had four children (see* above) before Thomas died in 1853. (6)

Jane Byrnes married Christopher Leeson at Raymond Terrace in 1854.

Jane parents were Benjamin West and Bridget Riley. They had six children: Christopher (England) 1815, John (Sydney) 1819, James (Launceston, Tas.) 1923, Benjamin (NSW) 1825, Catherine (NSW) 1826 and Jane (Parramatta) 1829. (6)

Benjamin was baptised 1 November 1781 Great Harwood, Lancs., England and died 16 June 1860 at Windsor NSW. His parents were Christopher West and Catherine Whalley. (6)

Bridget Riley was born was born in Ireland in 1790. (6)

On 3 September 1817 Benjamin West arrived in Sydney on the ship ‘Dick’. He was a Private in the 48th Regiment. By 1828 the family was living in Clarence Street, Parramatta, where Benjamin was working as a tailor. (6)
