James Christopher JOHNSON

  General Notes:

James was the son of Robert Johnson and Sidney Muldoon.

Although not listed in the passenger list for the "HIMALAYA" (arrived
03MAR1865), James travelled on this ship in place of his brother-in-law
Christopher, who remained in Ireland.

Family legend has it that Mary and John were "banished" after eloping
and marrying two months before the ship departed. This story is told
both by descendants of the couple in Australia, and relatives of the
family still living in Co.Fermanagh in 1986.

James married Mary JOHNSTON, daughter of Christopher JOHNSTON and Angelina LOVE, on 2 Sep 1864 in Castle Archdale, Co. Fermanagh, NIR.⁴²⁵ (Mary JOHNSTON was born in 1842 in Co. Fermanagh, NIR, died on 5 Jul 1920 and was buried in Gerringong Cemetery, NSW.)
