Thomas VITLER and Mary CHAPMAN were married at Guestling, SSX on March 3rd, 1800. They had six children of which we know, with three of them coming to Australia and settling in the Stroud area of NSW.

George was not a willing immigrant, being convicted at the Summer Assizes, Lewes, SSX on August 1st, 1835 of "breaking & entering the dwelling house of Thomas Eldridge at Battle & stealing therein 4 silk handkerchiefs and other articles, the property of Edward McShane". For this crime he was sentenced to transportation for life.
