The GEORGE VIDLER / ELIZABETH KING line

George VIDLER was born in England, probably in the London area, about 1809. His father Edward was described on George's death certificate as a "keeper of Zoological Gardens", although research at the London Zoo has failed to find any trace of him. George and Elizabeth married in the early 1830s, and had 5 children of which we know:

4. Louisa Alice     - born: c1844 London
                      arr : December 12th, 1849 aboard "Sarah"
                      marr: c1862 at Concord, NSW
                        to: George Henry DAVIS

5. Caroline Frances - born: c1847 London
                      arr : December 12th, 1849 aboard "Sarah"
                      marr: c1864 at Armidale, NSW
                        to: Robert George BAXTER

George and his family arrived in Sydney in 1849 aboard the "Sarah". It is not known whether he was related to either the Stroud or Illawarra Vidlers, although the fact that he was London-based reduces the chances of either being the case. George later became a Publican in Five Dock, an inner suburb of Sydney.

Following Elizabeth's death, George remarried, to Mary GARTHON, at Sydney on December 14th, 1870. There was no issue from this marriage, and George died at Five Dock on September 22nd, 1875.
