Copyright protects the expression of an idea and not the idea itself. For example, an idea for a board game would not be protected by copyright, but the form of expression in the written rules and playing instructions would be protected as a literary work.

Factual information, such as historical facts and news, is considered public domain and is owned by everyone. The expression of factual information however, in the form of a webpage or transcript, is protected by copyright. Copyright rules that apply to conventional media also apply to the Internet.

Transcripts submitted to the TenterfieldGenWeb are copyright of their respective transcribers.  These volunteers have submitted their lists with consent and free of charge.  You may utilise this information for the purpose of your family history but you must not copy the entire transcript, or reproduce the contents elsewhere without first obtaining the permission of the list owner.

Standard copyright laws apply to all content appearing on the TenterfieldGenWeb website.  If in doubt, ask!
