Sarah McDermott

Sarah arrived on the ship "Mariner" (2) which sailed from Cork on 12 March 1825 and arrived in Australia on 10 July 1825. The Master was William Fatherly and Surgeon Harman Cochrane.

Sarah was tried on 17 March 1824 at Carrick on Shannon, Leitrim Co for Larceny and sentenced to 7 years transportation.

Her occupation was given as Spinner. She may have left a husband behind as her status is married, husband a labourer in Dunmore. Sarah was aged 24, Height 4' 11" with grey eyes, Complexion Swarthy

It appears she was assigned to John Bourke who had land at Appin, and she married him in 1828

Sarah received her Certificate of Freedom 32/0341. 23 Apr.1832 SR Ref: 4/4310989

Sarah married John Bourke on the 4 Jul 1828 at Appin NSW. They had a family of six and eventually settled in the Inverell NSW area

Sarah was 91 when she died in Wellingrove near Inverell NSW
