Deputy Fish Commissioner TOM TENNANT is busy preparing for the fishing season at Washoe Lake. He proposes to furnish the Carson market with perchand catfish at the rate of 1 cent a pound. The supply of these fish in Washoe Lake is inexhaustible. Next year, he will furnish trout on the same terms.

I hope this helps someone. <smile> Mary McCain

Yesterday was an example of the elegant streets of which Carson boasts. Carson Street was a beautiful sheet of mud, the nice, bright, cozy kind. The side streets were in the same condition. Carson is without doubt an elegant summer city, but she is getting the reputation of the worst roads that ever disgraced a settlement. Hope this helps, Mary

A notable death of the past year was Erastus F. Jones, who was picked to lead the campaign against saloons. He traveled the length and breadth of the state in his "flivver," and his initial Prohibition law was adopted in the 1918 general election by a vote of 13,248 to 9,060. On his deathbed he said "I want to pass out, not with tears, but with song."

Hope this helps someone Mary

A sensation ensued yesterday at the trial of Cordelia Botkin charged with poisoning Mrs John P. Dunning in Dover, Del., with candy sent through the mails. Jacob Veetgoetjin told Chief of Police Wittman that a man offered him $50 to hang the jury. He said four other members had been secured. Judge Cook announced he would discharge the jury, but instead locked them up for the night.
