Clark County was created in 1909 from Lincoln County. It was named for philanthropist and Montana Senator William Andrews Clark. Six years after Nevada became a state, a final survey confirmed that the southern tip of the then Arizona Territory including Moapa Valley was within Lincoln County, Nevada.
