The Ninth (9th) New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment from April of 1861 to May of 1863 had in its ranks a total of 1,440 Officers and Enlisted men whose names were carried on the rolls. On this page and the following pages will be found the names of each of those men with their service records and when possible biographical information; with some more detailed biographies can be found on the Biography page of this site. The names of the men of the regiment are sorted into their respective companies by rank, and an overall index of the complete roster of names will be found in the section titled “Index.” When searching for a name remember that mistakes do occur and that names are sometimes misspelled, when a name is known to have had several different spellings an effort has been made to list the other variations with the name as well, sometimes a soldier with the last name of “Robison” might have his name listed as Robinson, Robertson, Robeson, Robson, or any other variation, so please keep that in mind when searching for a particular Zouave.

During the service of the regiment from April of 1861 to May of 1863 they lost by death two (2) officers and fifty-three (53) enlisted men killed in action; sixteen (16) enlisted men died of wounds received in action; two (2) officers and twenty-seven (27) enlsited men died of disease and other causes; for a total of four (4) officers and ninety-six (96) enlisted men who died during the regiments service.

Anyone with additional information on any of these men or their service, or to request more information on one of them, please contact the Webmaster.
