My great grandparents, Nicholas & Johanna George; from what I'm told moved from Alsace Lorraine (Northeastern France), or possibly Luxembourg, to Buffalo, New York at some point in the 1860's. I'm also told that many Georges moved from Europe at the same time. Nicholas & Johanna George moved from Buffalo, New York to Southeastern Kansas in the late 1860's, early 1870's. In 1911, the family moved to a small farming community here in Western Canada; Killam, Alberta. I'm looking to make contact with any Georges living in New York state that think they might have the slighest connection to what I've provided here, in terms of European roots of the George family.

Am trying to find any info on John German,Sr., 1740 - 1800. We believe he was one of the German settlers in the Palatine immigrations, or possibly a mercenary with the British Armny. We know that he was a British loyalist and moved to Canada after the Revolution. He married Mary Ryckman. Have no idea where he lived in the US before moving to Canada, but it seems likely it was New York or Pennsylvania. Any info on this, or on the German family in general? We suspect that the name is a revision of the original.

Some of my ancestors went to America circa 1670. Most likely to Albany or New York. 1. Nicolas (Claes) Gouverneur married with Machteld de Riemer and two of their sons: 1.1 Abraham Gouverneur 1.2 Isaac Gouverneur 1. NICOLAS GOUVERNEUR: born 1635 Leiden (The Netherlands); married in Amsterdam and get children there (between 1668 and 1679); died 1679 Amsterdam. It is likely that he is mentioned several times between 1663-1679 in Albany as well. 1.1 ABRAHAM GOUVERNEUR: born march 1672 in Amsterdam; married Maria Leisler; 5 children probably born in Albany or New York 1.2 ISAAC GOUVERNEUR: born january 1677 in Amsterdam; married in New York 24 june 1704 Sara Staats;11 children born in New York. One of this cildren is SARA(H) GOUVERNEUR: born 17-10-1714: she married Col. Lewis Morris (he was previous marries to Catharina Staats) and they got one son: GOUVERNEUR MORRIS (born 30-1-1751). This Gouverneur Morris married Anna C. Randalph and also got one son: GOUVERNEUR MORRIS OF MORRISSANIA (also called Gouverneur Morris II). A great-grandson of 1.2 Isaac was Samuel L. Gouverneur that married a daughter of president Monroe. I do have some more information of the above Gouverneur family (also of their ancestors that came circa 1590 from France to the Netherlands) and also of Morris family (originally from Wales). I have much information about the Hazard family going back to 1060's in Europe; but, I am missing the link between Caleb's Dad and the rest. :-( Caleb was born in R.I. on the second day of October in the year 1789 and was raised in Cambridge, Washington Cty, NY. My 3rd great grandfather, Gerald Howatt and his wfie Elizabeth, lived on a farm in Newburgh with his in laws, John & Idonea Eversden, during the 1860 census. Starngely, Elizabeth's name showed on the index, not Gerald. Maybe that was because her parents owned the farm. My 2nd great grandfather, George Howatt, was born there in 1861 but I've been unable to get a birth certfificate yet. I have been unable to locate them in the 1870 census making me think the Eversden's died or sold the farm. So, I requisitoned a half dozen reels of micriofilmed cemetery and land sale records from the Mormon Family History Centers for Orange County for the 1850-1880 period, but have found nothing.

They had several children, John J. was their first son in 1872, he raised is family in Troy as well. I am looking for any record that would tell me more about the original three men; the mode of transportation to America, port of entry, port of departure, etc. (Their parents were John McRedmond and Anne Troy from Knockhill Kilcormack, Offaly County (Queen's county). Kilcormack was littered with McRedmonds in the early and mid eighteen hundreds and I'm having difficulty moving forward in my irish studies from there. I'm specially interested in in the possibility that this family might have adopted this surname after having emigrated from the Netherlands in the late 1700's. Hannah is somehow connected to John MOON, whose estate in Warren Co., NY, her husband, Joseph B. LEAVENS, was executor of. Family records show that Hannah's parents were John Moon and Elizabeth Brown, however, she was much younger than his other children and John Moon's probate does not indicate she was his daughter. It is more likely that she was a granddaughter, perhaps the daughter of his son, William.

Looking for info on a Thomas MURPHY b. Ireland around 1830 - 1835 and arrived in Albany, NY about 1855. He married an Ann LYNG ?. They had 6 children that i found in the 1875 census. John, James, William, Kate, Annie, and Thomas. I can't determine if they were married before they arrived or after. At St.Agnes Cemetery in Mennands, NY the monument shows Thomas died on 3/29/1878 and buried there with his wife. There is no index card on him at the cemetery showing that he was never buried there. I have talked to the man in charge there and he agreed that he was never buried there according to cemetery records. I have looked thru all the old newspapers on microfilm for an obituary with no success and looked thru the Old St. John's Cemetery records for his name with no success. St. John's cemetery was ordered closed around 1878 - 1879 and was finally closed around 1902-1903 with a contractor being hired to remove the remains that were left. They had two sons, John (b.1791) and William (b.Jan 1794). William md. Nellie BLESSING. They lived in Guilderland before moving to Syracuse abt. 1825.

MURRY Wed Dec 11 21:30:16 1996 Researching family history. Grandmother Jean Murray b 3-1-14 immigrated to NY from Chelsea, England 1948. Grandfather Peter Thomas Keane b 12-28-15 (NY). Also info on Jean Grant b3-9-33, m ? Schmit 1947 (NY), had 2 daughters; Debora & Theresa Marie.

I am searching for a birth record for John Albert Mussulman, born in Cayuga Co, NY (I don't know what city or township), in 1824. His parents are Tobias Mussulman and Susanna Snyder, who I am also interested in finding information on. It appears Susanna died in NY (maybe Tioga Co) before 1843 because Tobias married an Arminda Johnson-Godfrey (daughter of Samual & Anna Johnson) and their first child was born in 1843. John's sibling's are Stephen, Margaret, Susan, and Jacob. Any help would be appreciated. Sherlene Belden 2363 26th Street
