PALMATIER
Fri Jan 17 16:47:53 1997
I am researching the PALMATIER genealogy. My great-grandfather, GEORGE
PALMATIER and his wife, ROSETTA BARTLETT moved to Walton in abt. 1903.
His parents were HARMON and MARY J. (BENTON) PALMATIER. Rosetta's
parents were ERASTUS and NANCY BARTLETT. I have a photo of George and
Rosetta in front of their "new" house at 288 Front St. I also
have photos of George in his grocery store on Delaware St. and Prospect
Ave. I would appreciate any information on the PALMATIERs, BENTONs, or
BARTLETTs; the information I have makes it appear the PALMATIERs dropped
into Delaware County out of nowhere. I believe George and Rosetta moved
to Walton from Sidney Center (Central) where they were married. My
grandfather, EARL PALMATIER moved to Buffalo where my father, ROBERT and
I were born and raised. Also have descendants EZRA PALMATIER and HARMON
PALMATIER who were possibly in the 144th NY Volunteer Infantry during
the Civil War. ANY INFO IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!

PRESTON Wed Apr 30 14:06:06 1997
Hello My name is Carol Huber in Northern CA. My ancestors lived in
Albany Co, the part that later became Columbia County. One became a
lawyer & graduated from law school in Albany Co in early 1800. Just to
show my connection. What I want to find out is about the Hannay Papers
held in the Albany Institute of History & Art. These papers were
compiled by Col. William Vanderpoel Hannay (1896-1976). These papers
list the buriel places with the birth deaths and marriages of my PRESTON
family, I have a copy. On these papers we found the maiden name of the
wife of John Preston to be Thankful Darling. I would like to know if
they have any more information on the Darling family. It is wonderful
family information and I would like to know if you know of these
papers? Are they on film and if so can they be ordered by interlibrary
loan or is there any way they can be read because they may hold
priceless info on out Darling family. The entire Preston family is
listed and I am sure this would be invaluable information to many
searching in your County. I appreciate any help you can give me in this
matter, as you can see it is not possible for me to go there easily.
Thank You for helping with the wonderfud GenWeb project. Carol
PRIME/PRUYN/PRUIN Tue Nov
19 09:05:17 1996
Seeking information on the Prime/Pruyn/Pruin families of
Montgomery County. My last identifiable ancestors there are
David Pruin (also spelled Pruyne) who married a Eunice French
and had my gggf David P. Pruin/Preme/Prime who was in turn
married thrice: 1st to an Ann Courtney, with son Abram C. Prime;
2nd to a Virtue Coons, with issue daughter Hannah; and lastly
to Nancy Ellen Vedder, 1823-1898, by whom he had sons Israel
Day Prime, Albert, Jacob, John; and daughters Mary Jane (Langley)
and Anna (Bille).
The family name was apparently anglicized over the years.
Baptismal and marriage records from the Dutch Reformed Church
at Fonda show David P. Prime slowly changing the spelling of his
name from the original Pruyn(e) to Pruin/Preme and finally to
Prime. He and Virtue moved to the Allegany/Cattaraugus County
area circa 1841, when Virtue died. He married Miss Vedder the
following year and my ggf, Israel Prime, who later used the
name James Francis Prime, was born in 1843.
Would greatly appreciate any information on how David Pruyn(e)
and Eunice French tie into the historic Pruyn families of
Montgomery and Albany counties.

Professional researcher wanted: From records left by a family researcher now deceased, "In NY 1790 census JOSEPH ROBBINS is shown in Halfmoon, Albany County, with 2 girls and a son, JOSEPH FRANKLIN ROBBINS. Shows JOSEPH ROBBINS b. abt 1764" Note: I have found a JOSEPH ROBBINS, b. Jun 1764 in Carver, Plymouth, MA (no parents listed) in LDS files. Another LDS listing shows JOSEPH ROBBINS, b. 26 Jun 1764 in Middleboro, Plymouth, MA w/relative JOSEPH ROBBINS. In the 1800 census, JOSEPH ROBBINS is shown in Bloomfield, Ontario County, NY with 6 children, 4 girls and 2 boys. Thus, 3 children were born in either Albany or Ontario counties between 1790 and 1800. In neither census do we know the names of any of the children other than JOSEPH FRANKLIN ROBBINS, who was born in 1790. Presuming that JOSEPH FRANKLIN owned land in Albany County, are there searchable records of land transactions that might show when he moved and his wife's name. I realize that you do not offer research, but if you could pass this letter on to a professional researcher that might be of service to me, it would be sincerely appreciated. The researcher could write me advising what could be done to find out more about this family and the costs of such research. My address is Tom O'Neil, 716 E. Dennis #88, Tumwater, WA 96501.

ROGERSThu, 17 Apr 1997 18:15:18 -0700
I'm trying to find out about my mother's father and his people.
Her parents were Daniel Raymond Rogers and Mildred Virginia Rogers.
Daniel's parents were Marguerite W. Taylor b. 12/15/1890 Georgia and
Daniel J. Rogers. Very little is known about the Rogers side of the
family because Marguerite and D.J. divorced and I don't think their
was much contact afterwards. This is what I know:
Daniel Raymond was born in Texas in 1910. Marguerite and Daniel J.
met during his stay at a Military Academy in or around San Antonio?
His parents were very unhappy about the marriage. They had three
children and divorced. She was from Georgia, but I have yet to
find anything on her either. I have many old pictures and there are
little hints on the back. One of the pictures is very old, it is
of a man shoveling snow, in the back ground is a man on a horse drawn
carriage loaded with old fashioned milk jugs on the side of the
carriage is "A.O. Hatt or Hale?" on the back of the picture is
"My grandfather Daniel Albert Rogers in Eastwood, N.Y."
My mother and aunt remember their father telling them his fathers
people were from Upstate N.Y. and they think they remember hearing
Albany somewhere along the line. Their father told them he came
from 9 generations of military men. Daniel J. Rogers died between
1940 and 1955.
I've had a very difficult time in finding anything on this side of
the family. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I don't find an Eastwood in the Atlas. Do you know where it is/was?

I am looking for information on the SALISBURY family. I know that they
setle in New York at one time or another. They may even have come into
this country through New York, (not sure of this), but I know that they
spent some time in New York. Is there, or was there, such a place as
Norway and/or Russia New York? I have some family information that tells
me that they spent some time in these two cities. They were there in the
early 1700's and 1800's. Can aanyone help me? I am sure that they were
all related for one of the family members, when he died had well over one
hundred ggggrandchildren, or so the article I have said. Some of the
names that I am looking for are: Ackland Nathaniel, Matilda, William,
Richard and I could go one forever for they must have had to have had
every name availble to name all the descendants that there are to this
family name. These people were Statesmen, farmers. cheese buyers and
educators. Has anyone ever heard or know about a district of yore known
as Dairy Hill? My family owned a farm in that District. Some of my
family fought in the War of 1812 from New York. Some fought with Great
Britian. I think that they came here from England or Wales. Please see
if you might be able to help me. I also know that they lived in a town
called Fairfield. I do not know what counties any of these places are
in.

SEELYE Thu Oct 10 12:42:38 1996
I do not know what county in NY my great-grandfather was born, I only
know he was born in NY state. His name was Seth SEELYE, born in 1835. He
married Natalie THOMPSON, born 17 Sep 1838, probably in PA.
.
Natalie THOMPSON's mother was Sophia GIGUE/GIGNE. Sophia's parents were
Stephen GIGUE and the Countess de Marleau from Marseilles, France.
Natalie THOMPSON had been married once before to Ben BROOKER; she later
divorced him. Natalie and Ben had two children together named Frank
BROOKER and Natalie BROOKER.
Seth SEELYE and Natalie THOMPSON had two children, John SEELYE and
Charles Thompson SEELYE. Charles Thompson SEELYE was my direct ancestor.
He was born 27 Jun 1868 in Baltimore, Maryland; died 22 Mar 1953.
Charles married Emma Mary HALES 18 Oct 1887. Emma Mary HALES was born 14
Dec 1867 in Philadelphia, PA; died 30 Nov 1960.
Family records state that Seth SEELYE later moved to Philadelphia, PA and
opened a tobacco store at 2nd and Mormonsing Ave., Philadelphia, PA.
I'm trying to research Seth SEELYE; to discover where he was born in NY,
and who his parents/grandparents were. My family records state that
either his father or grandfather was an Iroquois Chief. Records don't
state which tribe/nation/band etc. he was in.
If anyone has any information on the SEELYE family or GIGUE/GIGNE
(records have both spellings stated) family, I would be very interested
in corresponding. I also would be happy to reimburse those researchers
interested for their efforts.

SOUTHWICK Sun Apr

Walworth County,Wisconsin History lists Caleb SOUTHWICK who was born
6/17/1773 as being either a brother or cousin of Solomon SOUTHWICK who
ran for governor of New York. Caleb is said to have married Ann
CARPENTER. (Solomon’s mother’s name was Ann Carpenter GARDINER, so she
could have been a cousin.) Caleb appears in the 1800, 1810 and 1820
census in Vermont and in the 1840 census in Ohio and died 1/19/1856 in
Wisconsin.
Solomon and his brothers (Henry Collins and Wilmarth) are all listed as
being born in Newport between 1772 and 1775 so it is more likely that
Caleb was a cousin. Both Solomon and Henry Collins SOUTHWICK lived and
died in Albany. Any information on the parents of Caleb SOUTHWICK would
