Mayor Of Friendship Dies Suddenly.

Harmon A. Corbin, Life Long Resident Of Village, Passes.

Friendship, Oct. 1.-- Mayor Harmon A. Corbin of this village died suddenly this morning at seven o'clock at the Corbin residence, "Sunnyside". Mr. Corbin had been in usual good health and his death comes as a great shock to this community. He was seventy-seven years old and had been a life long resident of Friendship.

Mayor Corbin, a staunch Republican, had served ten terms as mayor of Friendship and was prominently identified in community interests here.

He had served as member of the school board, town and village board and also was at one time water and light commissioner. Mr. Corbin was a member of the First Baptist Church and was affiliated with Allegany Lodge, No. 224, F. and A. M., Knights Templar, Shriners and other masonic bodies. He also was a member of Friendship Chamber of Commerce, Old Timers Association, Friendship, Rod and Gun Club, the Recreation Club and Van Campen Lodge, I. O. O. F.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Martha Bockman Corbin, two daughters, Mrs. Edward Vincent, Maine, N.Y., Mrs. Charles A. Starr, Friendship; two sons, Minor H. Corbin, Endicott, N.Y., George Adin Corbin, Friendship; one sister, Mrs. N. H. Fuller, Friendship.

Arrangements for the funeral have not been completed.

Funeral Services for Harmon A. Corbin Are Held Tuesday.

Friendship, Oct. 5. -- Funeral services for Harmon A. Corbin, former mayor of Friendship, were held Tuesday afternoon from the family residence. The Rev. Martz Snyder, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery. The burial services were in charge of the Allegany Lodge, No. 225, F. and A.M.

Business and industrial activities in Friendship were suspended during the funeral.

The honorary escorts were: Chief Leslie L. LeSuer and officers of the Friendship Fire Department; members of H.A. Corbin Hose Co., Steamer and Fire Police Company, Rev. Martz Snyder, St. John's Commandery, Knight Templars of Olean, Valley Point Chapter, Royal Arch Masons, of Cuba, Allegany Lodge, No. 225, F. and A.M. of Friendship.

Acting pallbearers were Harry L. Blossom, Malcolm C. Mason, E. Allen Mapes, George M. Thompson, Charles Dyring, F. Vanama Jones. Honorary bearers were Horace G. Prindle, Charles S. Lane, Walter C. Willis, Manley W. Hobart, Roy M. Carter, Fred C. Mulkin, William C. Kingsbury, John J. McGraw, Frank C. Smalley, Fred L. Utter, Marion Bullard of Friendship; William Corbin of Belmont; Dr. Frank E. Howard of Olean; William J. Hogan of bolivar; George H. Bradley of Bolivar.
