Daughters of the American Revolution
Liberty, New York
Beaverkill Covered Bridge Erected 1865
Membership is open to any female applicant who is 18 years or older and who can prove a direct blood line from an ancestor who aided in the War for Independence either in military, civil or patriotic service between the dates of April 19, 1775 and November 26, 1783.
The chapter is active and meets 9 months of the year--April through December--on the first Friday of the month at 12:30 p.m. at locations determined by our program committee. We work with local schools by providing the DAR American History Essay Contest, the DAR Good Citizen Scholarship program, and we participate with Patriotism awards for Roscoe Central's 6th graders and to graduating seniors at Western Sullivan Central School. Certificates and checks are given to four graduating seniors with the highest grades in American History from four different schools. We actively support the Sullivan County Historical Society and the local food pantries.
